How Can I Help?
Whatever your group or organisation’s stage of development, support is available in the following areas:
-
Whether your organisation is just starting out or well established, my governance and structure services will offer:
advice on the most appropriate and effective legal structure for your organisation, based on your aims, scale and context
review of your stated objectives to assess whether they accurately reflect the service you currently deliver, and your aims for the future
creation or amendment of governing documents
registration of your organisation with the appropriate regulator(s)
governance reviews for existing organisations, including the identification of areas for development and improved resilience
review of existing internal processes and systems, and advice on how to get more from technology, streamline admin tasks or improve compliance with GDPR etc.
These services ensure that your organisation / group is operating according to its constitution or articles of association, that documents remain relevant to contemporary contexts and that you can demonstrate compliance with funders’ criteria.
-
Stakeholders and funding bodies expect groups and organisations to have a suite of policies appropriate the scale and nature of the work or service provided.
I offer a policy development and / or review service covering areas including (but not limited to):
Safeguarding
Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
Financial Controls and Governance
GDPR
Health and Safety
Environment and Sustainability
These services are relevant when establishing your group / organisation, responding to funder requirements or updating outdated policies.
-
As groups and organisations grow, and adapt to changing needs in their communities or the social climate, gaps in skills and knowledge can develop.
Trustee, staff and volunteer skills audits allow your organisation to identify these gaps and I offer services to help fill them.
I offer one-to-to or mixed group workshops covering topics such as:
Trustee Roles and Responsibilities
Reporting
Methods of Measuring Impact
Monitoring and Evaluation (funding-based)
How to reduce your organisation’s impact on the environment
Continuity and Resilience
Sessions can be online or in person*.
Skills gaps can lead to missed opportunities and contribute to increased levels of stress and risk of burnout.
It may be the case that there is a skill or experience gap that cannot be filled by a trustee, member of staff or volunteer; in such cases I can provide advice on co-opting someone who meets your needs, in line with your governing documents.
*where in-person support is required, reasonable travel costs will be agreed in advance.
-
I work with you to strengthen your funding bids, empowering you to recognise and capitalise on the work and impacts that you know best.
I offer guidance on how to use data, and highlight in-kind support and volunteer input to enhance your funding applications. I advise on funding strategies, including the optimal use of your existing resources.
Resources for the third sector are limited, I can help you maximise what is already available to you and the chances of attracting external support.
-
I offer support for the development of monitoring, evaluation and impact assessment processes and systems, whether they are specific to a particular funding stream or as an aspect of your future business planning.
Monitoring, evaluation and impact assessment is an ongoing tool to help you review, refine and build upon your successes. They are essential tools in your sustainability tool kit.
If you are unsure what service you need, or have mixed requirements, please use the contact form to provide further details and arrange an initial consultation.
How Will I Help?
I work alongside you, not at a distance. I bring structured, external perspective, while you bring deep knowledge of your organisation and its beneficiaries. The work is strongest when these come together.
This collaborative approach will follow the below process:
Initial Consultation
We meet to assess the status, needs and hopes for your organisation. This meeting can be in-person* or online, and lasts up to one hour.
*where in-person support is required, reasonable travel costs will be agreed in advance.
Proposal and Quotation
I will create a proposed programme of work that is tailored to your needs and an accompanying quotation, and share these with you.
Where possible, I will include a timescale for delivery.
It should be noted, however, that when a service requires engagement with a regulator this will be limited to the current waiting time for assignment of a case officer.
Collaborate Openly
I use clear, structured tools to gather the information needed to deliver your work effectively.
I will work with you to create documents and processes that work for you, while satisfying the requirements of regulators.
Stay in Touch
I offer a follow-up service, and additional services at a discounted rate.
